Open Data Portal Automation Request

Agencies can schedule automated imports/updates for data published on the State of Iowa's open data portal.  This is particularly useful where you intend to update your data frequently (i.e. daily or weekly) and/or your dataset is large (e.g. > 250,000 rows or 150 MB).  If you are interested in automated updates, please complete the following form.

Please enter your full name.
Please enter your email.
Please enter our phone number without dashes or slashes.
Please enter the name of the department who is responsible for updating the dataset.
Please enter the name of dataset as it appears on data.iowa.gov.
The dataset id is the alphanumeric sequence – four characters, a dash, and four additional characters found at the end of the dataset’s URL. The Dataset ID must be associated with a PUBLISHED dataset, not one associated with a WORKING COPY.
Enter the API field name for the dataset's row identifier. The row identifier is a column that uniquely identifies each row in the dataset. This value should be unique and not be contained in more than one row. Values are typically numbers or some alphanumeric code. Providing row identifiers can help facilitate programmatically and automatically updating datasets.
Indicate if your dataset contains location information
Location Field
Complete the following information if your dataset contains a location field. A location field is a composite data type based on U.S formatted address information provided in single or multiple columns, or based on geographic coordinates provided in decimal degrees.
Please provide the API Field Name for the Location Field
Address Source
Complete the following if the location field is based on U.S formatted address information contained in your dataset.
Enter the API field name for the column containing the street address component of the address if available.
Enter the API field name for the column containing the values for the city component of the address.
Enter the API field name for the column containing the state component of the address.
Enter the API field name for the column containing the zip code component of the address.
Lat/Long Source
Complete this if the location field is based on Latitude and Longitude geographic coordinates provided in decimal degrees.
Enter the API field name for the column containing the latitude that contributes to the location field's geographic coordinates.
Enter the API field name for the column containing the longitude that contributes to the location field's geographic coordinates.
There are three choices for updates: append, replace or upcert. Append will append the data contained in the update file to the data in the dataset. Replace will replace the data in the dataset with the data contained in the update file. Upcert will append rows in the update file that are not currently in the dataset, and replace those that are. Row identifiers are required to utilize the upcert option.
If applicable, please enter the path to your Department's DataSync folder on the Global Shared network.
Please enter the email(s) (separated by commas) of those who need access to folder where update files are saved. Only list those who don't currently have access.
