This month's data snapshot highlights open resources and tools available from FEMA, Google, and NAF, a nonprofit.  It also highlights a new public report available from DIAL and upcoming live training opportunities in March.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) collects vast amounts of data on multiple aspects of emergency management — Disaster Information, Individual Assistance, Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and Grants. OpenFEMA makes FEMA's data publicly available.

Google's Data Commons

Data Commons, an initiative from Google, organizes the world's publicly available data and makes it more accessible and useful. Data is from a wide range of sources - ranging from governmental statistical organizations like census bureaus to organizations like the World Bank and United Nations.  Data Commons can be used by anyone - students, researchers, journalists, non profits, policymakers and more.

Just ask it a question, such as What is the median income in Polk County, IA?
