When must notices for public hearings be provided?

Notices must be provided to the public at least ten (10) and no more than twenty (20) days prior to the date of the hearing with date, time and location of the hearing.

When are school budgets due?

School district budgets must be filed by April 15 for the upcoming fiscal year that runs from July 1 to June 30.

When must a written protest on a school budget be submitted?

Protests to school budgets for the upcoming fiscal year that runs from July 1 to June 30 must be provided no later than April 25.

When should amendments to a current fiscal year budget be completed?

Budget amendments for the current fiscal year that runs from July 1 to June 30 should be completed by May 31. Budgets may be amended after this deadline, but if the amendment is protested and properly appealed it is void.

When must a written protest on a budget amendment be submitted?

A proposed amendment of a local budget is subject to protest for ten days from the decision or order of the board of supervisors, city council, school board or other public body or corporation with the power to levy a tax.

When does the state certify taxes?

The department certifies taxes for the upcoming fiscal year which runs from July 1 to June 30 back to the county auditor by June 15.

When are bond resolutions due?

If a school district intends to include taxes for a new bond issue for the upcoming fiscal year that runs from July 1 to June 30, bond resolutions are due to the county auditor by May 3.

When are voted physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL) resolutions due?

Where the PPEL is funded by a combination of property tax and income surtax, a sample ballot and abstract of votes for new or to continue a voter-approved physical plant and equipment levy (VPPEL) for the upcoming fiscal year are due to the department by April 15. If funded entirely by property taxes, a sample ballot and abstract of votes are due to the department by May 3.

When are instructional support levy resolutions due?

Where a school district's instructional support levy has expired, and the school district intends to continue levy for the upcoming fiscal year, resolutions are due to the department by April 15.
