Improved Tables in Stories

Updates to the enterprise data platform have improved the formatting and configurability of tables within stories.  You now have the ability to adjust the appearance of dates, number formats and alignment. Alternating row colors may also be applied to improve readability. Table groupings are more configurable to allow you to organize data into nested columns for a structured and hierarchical view of information. Column headers may also be changed to be more descriptive and relevant to the overall story. Lastly, you can now apply conditional formatting to highlight key data points based on defined criteria.  We have also been informed that text wrapping may also be on the horizon.

Please see The Table Visualization in Stories for more information.

Related Content Tab

When you visit the related content tab of the overview page for a dataset or view on the enterprise data platform, you now have the ability to search, sort and filter related content associated with the dataset or view. Any downstream content will be displayed on the related content tab.

Federal Data Collection on Race

The Office of Management and Budget has published a set of revisions to Statistical Policy Directive 15: Standards for Maintaining, Collecting, and Presenting Federal Data on Race and Ethnicity. This is the first revision since 1997. Changes include using one combined question for race and ethnicity, adding Middle Eastern or North African as a new category, and requiring the collection of additional detail beyond minimum required race and ethnicity categories.

See OMB March 28, 2024 brief for additional detail.

Solar Eclipse = Open Data

With the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, NASA is ensuring that the data captured during the eclipse is open and readily accessible to all. This approach ensures researchers, educators, students, and enthusiasts can delve into the data and further broaden our understanding of eclipses.
