Enterprise IT Standards

Enterprise IT Standards are approved after considering input received from state agencies and the public. Procurements and proposed procurements of items in these categories will be reviewed for compliance with operational standards in order to ensure compatibility, interoperability, and connectivity.

Policy

In order to ensure compliance with operational standards, all information technology related procurements must be approved by the Chief Information Officer. The governing process for all technology projects and procurements describes how standards are created and procurements managed.

Process

OCIO works in a collaborative manner with state agencies to develop, implement, and update enterprise-wide IT standards. Enterprise IT Standards are approved after considering input received from state agencies and the public. The guiding principles for standards development are to ensure compatibility and interoperability of state government information technology systems, while at the same time promoting effective technology alignment with enterprise strategies and programs. Questions about State IT standards should be submitted to ocio.standards@iowa.gov.
